Video adds authenticity – SproutUpTO May 2012


I attended the May 2012 Sprout Up, a monthly event for  entrepreneurs and start ups.

Today’s guest speaker was Sean Ellis, founder and CEO of CatchFree. Sean has worked on marketing for several high-profile startups, including Xobni and Dropbox, and is the author of the popularStartup Marketing Blog.

In his advice for start ups today, he mentioned a few things I thought were interesting.

– For start ups, it’s too early to worry about awareness, focus on growth first

– Product/Market fit is the most important element – if you have a large group of people who needs your service, you’re ready for growth.

– For start ups, having a video (doesn’t have to be fancy) of the founder and his/her vision on the website would be an authentic way to connect with potential clients.
